YOU DO swing the same way every time

This article was printed in Golf Magazine in October, 1977. At the time I had reviewed about 600 swings. Before I was finished using the Swing Recorder in 1984 I had photographed over 20,000 golf swings. Initially I used the Swing Recorder for teaching but it was not long before I realized that because the golf swing does repeat itself ( by taking multiple exposers which consisted of several swings on the same piece of film that the best use of this technology would bee to use it to fit golf equipment. The flex of the shaft has a bearing on the position of the clubface at impact. If the club has the correct amount of flex it can square the clubface for the golfer. It was so accurate we were able to fit golfers with in between flexes. There are many golfers where a stiff shaft is too stiff and a regular ( medium ) flex is too weak. They, in turn need an in between flex which we offered in the late 70’s. As far as I know there isn’t anyone offering in between flexes in todays market. At the time this equipment was state of the art and it really helped me in club fitting as I could absolutely see how the golf shaft flex responded to a golfers swing. If you read the article you’ll find that we proved that the golf swing repeats itself almost identically from swing to swing, making fitted clubs make sense
